FEELEY NAMED AMERICA EAST CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

11/24/2003

Boston, MA--UMBC junior center Andrew Feeley (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS) was named co-Player of the Week in the America East Conference for games ending November 23, 2003. He shared the award with Hartford’s Aaron Cook (Randallstown, MD/Lake Clifton HS), who scored a career-high 28 points in the Hawks’ 74-55 win over Concordia (NY) on Friday.

Feeley was named Most Valuable Player of the Battle of Baltimore Tournament as he led the Retrievers to their fourth consecutive tournament title. In Friday’s opening  72-50 win over  Loyola, the 6’9”, 250-lb. pivot recorded his seventh career “double-double” with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and followed up with a 10-point, 5-rebound game vs. Towson’s stingy zone defense in Saturday’s 59-53 victory.  Feeley hit 10 of 16 shots from the floor in the two games to lead a balanced UMBC attack. It was the second straight season that Feeley earned All Tournament Team honors.

Junior guard Rob Gogerty, and sophomore forward Cory McJimson joined Feeley on the All-Tournament Team. Gogerty set a tournament record and personal best with 11 assists vs. Towson, after a 16-point effort vs. Loyola. McJimson corralled 8 rebounds in each game and led UMBC with 12 points vs. the Tigers.
