MEN'S BASKETBALL OPENS BATTLE WITH 72-50 WIN OVER LOYOLA

Towson, MD--Junior center Andrew Feeley scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds as UMBC (1-0) never trailed and captured the opener of the season with a 72-50 win over Loyola in the opening round of the Battle of Baltimore Tournament at Towson University.
UMBC will make its fifth consecutive appearance in the title game and will go for its fourth straight championship.
The Retrievers jumped out to a 12-3 lead, and garnered 11 first half offensive rebounds to build a 41-20 halftime advantage. Feeley scored 14 points in the first 20 minutes, hitting 5 of 6 from the floor. UMBC also committed just 3 first half turnovers.
The Greyhounds trimmed the margin to 54-42 midway through the second half, but back-to-back buckets by sophomore forward John Zito restored the lead to 16 points and UMBC coasted to it fifth straight opening game victory.
Feeley finished 7 of 9 from the floor and posted his seventh career "double-double", with the last six coming on the road. Rob Gogerty was a solid 7 of 11 from the floor for 16 points, while Zito added 10 points and 5 assists.
UMBC shot 27 of 54 for the game, while holding Loyola to 33.3% (17/51) shooting.
