BRIAN HODGES, MICHAEL KNIGHT SIGN NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT FOR UMBC IN MEN'S BASKETBALL

11/13/2003

Head Men’s Basketball Coach Tom Sullivan has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend UMBC for the 2004-2005 academic year. The two high school seniors are Brian Hodges (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS) and Michael Knight (Seattle, WA/Seattle Prep HS).

Hodges is a 6’3”, 185-lb. shooting guard who is expected to start for Head Coach Marty Keithline in his senior season at McNamara. He matriculated for two years at Riverdale Baptist (MD) HS before transferring to McNamara last season. As a sophomore at Riverdale Baptist, he averaged 12.0 ppg, and averaged 8.5 ppg in a reserve role in his junior season at McNamara. Rivals.com cited Hodges as one of the top 10 guards in the Maryland-D.C. area this year. He took part in the Eastern Invitational, Orlando Summer Showcase, and Charlie Webber Tournament this past summer. Hodges is a member of the National Honor Society and is a Maryland Distinguished Scholar.

Knight is a 6’3”, 180-lb. point/shooting guard, who helped Chris Miller’s Seattle Prep Panthers to a 17-8 record last season. Knight played in all 25 games and averaged 13.8 ppg, including a season high of 26 points vs. Lakeside. He earned Third Team All Seattle honors and has been the Panthers’ top three-point shooter for the past two seasons. Knight was ranked as the 14th best shooting guard in the west coast by InsiderHoops.com. He competed in this summer’s Eastern Invitational, FinalScore.TV Invitational, and adidas “Big Time” Tournament.

Both Hodges and Knight have qualified to go through the NCAA Clearinghouse procedure.
