Background: A walk-on to the UMBC program who came from a strong prep program at Trinity (Conn.) Catholic… a member of the 2006-07 All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference All-East squad… captained the Crusaders last season and earned three varsity letters… averaged 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals per game… scored 23 points in a win last season over Bassick H.S., the eventual conference champion… in his sophomore year, the Crusaders won the FCIAC title and finished second in the state championships… also lettered in track and field… excelled in the classroom, earning high honors and was listed in Who’s Who Among America High School Students…also earned an award for “outstanding determination” in business studies… can play either guard position… considering a major in Information Systems/Economics and is interested in careers in investment analysis and urban renewal and development… considered many other NCAA Division I programs, but selected UMBC “because of its academic reputation and competitive basketball program…the Baltimore-Washington area is also a plus”… lists his favorite food as lobster and favorite NBA team as the Miami Heat… has a younger brother Ryan, who is 16… son of Michelle and Rodney Adkins… Rodney Carl Adkins II was born on Feb. 9, 1989.
