 2006-07 Accolades:

·   Became the first Retriever ever to earn America East Conference All Tournament team honors.

 

·   Named America East Player of the Week for the week ending November 26

 

·   Led the conference in assists per game (5.3) and was second (by .02 to Binghamton’s Mike Gordon) with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.37.  He also finished ninth in steals with 1.5 per game.

 

·   His 159 assists last season is the third-highest single season total in school history. He became 18th Retriever to surpass 200-assist plateau (260) and is currently in 13th place.

 

·   In just two seasons, he became the ninth player in school history to record 100 (109) three-point field goals.

 

·   Greene averaged 11.8 ppg in UMBC’s 12 wins last season and 7.1 ppg in the 19 losses.

 

2006-07 Game Highlights

·   (Nov. 21) Posted 18 points, all on a career-high six three-point  field goals in the win over Lafayette. He also recorded eight assists and has amassed 21 assists in UMBC’s last two games vs. Patriot League opponents

·   (Nov. 25) Followed up Lafayette game with a 14-point, 10-assist effort at Michigan, posting his first career double-double. He only committed one turnover in 39 minutes vs. the Wolverines.

·   (Nov. 27) Scored 15 points and added seven assists in the win at Morgan State.

·   (Dec. 12) Suffered sprained knee ligament vs. GW and his 11-game streak of games with a three-point goal came to an end. He was unable to play at Marquette on Dec. 16

·   (Jan. 9) Played all 40 minutes and scored 16 points in a tough loss to Albany.

·   (Jan. 11) Recorded his second double-figure assist game of the season and the third of his career with 10vs.Vermont

·   (Feb. 8) Scored 15 points vs. Vermont, his first game in double figures in five outings. He stuffed stats with seven assists and five steals vs. the Catamounts

·   (Feb. 22) Nearly pulled off double-double with 11 points and nine assists vs. Maine.

·   (America East Tournament) Scored a career-high 21 points, including the go-ahead three-point play with 1:03 remaining in UMBC’s 70-61 win over Maine. He hit seven of nine shots from the floor, four of six from behind the arc and added six assists and three steals. Greene added 11 points and six more assists in the semifinal setback to Vermont.

 

05-06: Named to the America East All Rookie Team, the first Retriever in three seasons to earn that honor…became the fourth freshman in school history to post 100 assists (101) in a season… finished the campaign ranked sixth in the conference in assists (3.61), fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.60), sixth in three-point goals made (1.89 per game), and eighth in three-point field goal percentage (37.6%) and steals (1.36) ...came off the bench in the early part of the season…came within one free throw of a school record as he hit ten-of-ten vs. UMES in a 16-point debut...recorded eight assists (one turnover) vs. Stony Brook (Dec. 10) and hit seven straight free throws in the final 1:33 to seal the victory...dressed, but did not play vs. William & Mary due to a violation of team policy (missed class)...earned first collegiate start vs. Long Beach State...hit 3 three-point goals (of five), halting a 2/17 stretch from behind the arc...buried four trifectas (of eight) in a starting role at Virginia...set a UMBC freshman record with 13 assists at Navy...only Dana Harris, ‘92 (three times) had more assists in a single game for UMBC... tied season high with four three-point goals vs. UNH (13 points), but UMBC lost its fourth straight when he scored in double figures...hit four three-point goals for the third time and tied his season high with 16 points vs. Maine...became first UMBC player to go all 40 minutes in a regulation game since Rob Gogerty (Jan 4, 2004)... committed zero turnovers in 40 minutes...had his streak of 11 games with a three-point field goal snapped vs. Binghamton (Feb. 2)... blanked for first time in league play (0/4) at Maine…produced a strong America East Conference Tournament, averaging 12.0 ppg and hitting eight of 18 shots from the floor and six of 14 from behind the arc.  

Background: Earned Second Team (Pa.) All State honors after averaging 17 points per game in his senior season at Whitehall…also produced 6 assists and 3 steals per game and earned Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player honors for the second consecutive year…The Morning Call  Player of the Year…top game of last season was a 28-point, 5-steal effort in the second round of the state playoffs…team earned LVIAC and District XI titles in his junior and senior seasons…as a junior, he led Whitehall to a record of 27-4, a conference title, and a District XI AAAA championship…earned third Team All State (AAAA) honors, and was the lone junior to appear on any of the All State teams… averaged 16.4 ppg, 6.5 assists per game, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per outing…produced 12 assists in the first round of the state playoffs…also lettered in golf and was a district qualifier… considered Akron and UWGB, but felt UMBC “was the best fit for me, and I liked the coaches, players and campus”…Baltimore is a natural fit, as he lists his favorite food as crab legs…has an older brother, Jimmy, 21, and a younger brother, Matt, 14…Jimmy played college football at Moravian...son of Denise and James Green…full name is Jason Greene…born December 15, 1986.
