2006-07 Accolades

·   Led UMBC in blocked shots (36), finished third in the America East Conference (1.16) and recorded the most rejections by a UMBC freshman Division I player.

·   Competed in the most games ever (31) by a UMBC first-year player.

·   Started the final 23 games of the season, including all 16 America East games.

·   Hit 14 of his final 17 free throw attempts of the season and finished the year at 76.7%.

 

 

2006-07 Game Highlights

·   (Nov. 11) Inserted into his first collegiate game in the first half at St. Peter’s and had a productive 20 minutes. He rejected three Peacock shots and hit two of three field goal attempts.

·   (Nov. 14) Visited the free throw line six times (4/6) in an eight-point effort vs. Loyola.

·   (Nov. 21) Hit all three field goal attempts (six points) and contributed four assists in the rout of Lafayette.

·   (Dec. 7) Learned of his first collegiate start moments before the game at La Salle and responded with 12 points on six-of-seven shooting.

·   (Dec. 12) In the next game at GW, he scored 13 points.

·   (Dec. 16) He garnered a season-best seven rebounds while playing all 40 minutes at Marquette. Fry was 13 of 17 from the floor (76.5%) in his first three starts.

·   (Jan. 6) Rejected a season-high four shots at Stony Brook, all in the first half.

·   (Jan. 18) Scored a season-high 14 points vs. Hartford, including four consecutive points to give Retrievers a late six-point advantage.

·   (Jan. 31) Scored ten points at Albany, his final game in double figures in the regular season.

·   (Feb. 18) After scoring just five points in a three-game span, he rebounded with eight points and three blocks in the win over Boston University.

·   (America East Tournament) After playing just 11 minutes in the win over Maine, he played a season-high 31 minutes and scored 12 points and recorded a pair of blocked shots in the semifinal setback to Vermont. He converted his first career three-point goals, hitting both attempts early in the second half to bring UMBC to within four points.

Background: Skilled player who produced an outstanding senior season at West Perry… averaged 20.1 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game and five blocked shots per game as the Mustangs advanced deep into the state play-offs, finishing fourth in the AAA Division… West Perry won a school record 25 games last season… set a single season school scoring record with 643 points and finished his career with 1,270 points… was named co-Most Valuable Player and a first team member of the Mid-Penn Colonial Conference… the Pennsylvania Associated Press named him to the All State Second Team… also selected to The Sentinel  All-Star team and to The Patriot News Big 15 team… lists his best single-game performance as a 32-point (13/18 fg), 13-rebound, five-assist effort in a win over Greencastle… an honor roll student… averaged 13.6 points per game in his junior season… lists favorite professional team as the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys… brother, Derek Fry, competes in football at Millersville (Pa.)
