2004-05: Posted solid numbers in America East play (4.7 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 56.8% field goal) and could combine with Zito to form a productive tandem at the power forward slot in ‘05-’06... after a quiet first 11 games, he tallied 10 points and added 4 rebounds vs. Stony Brook (January 5) and followed up with 4 points and a team-high 7 caroms at Hartford...was 6/6 from the free throw line vs. the Seawolves and played a key role in the come-from-behind victory...earned his first career start at Boston University, contributing 6 rebounds in 19 minutes...DNP for the first time at Northeastern. and also DNP at Maine..his 2/2 ft with 7:45 to play put UMBC ahead for good vs. Albany (January 19)...hit 26 of his last 32 free throw attempts (81.3%) of the season...scored 6 points in 9 minutes vs. Vermont (February 2) and followed up with 6 more in 21 minutes at Stony Brook (February 5)...tallied 10 points vs. Northeastern (February 12)..scored career high 15 points and posted first career “double-double” with 10 rebounds at Albany (February 19)....both were team highs...averaged 5.9 ppg and 5.2 rpg and over the last ten games.
2005-06: Started the final 25 games of the season and surpassed his two-season totals in points, field goals, assists, blocks and steals...his 56.8% field goal percentage is the seventh-highest in a single season in school history...finished third in the America East Conference in that category and was also 11th in rebvounding, sixth in blocked shots and 12th in steals...was the lone post-player ranked in the top 15 in steals in the conference...came off the bench in UMBC’s first four games, but started in place of the injured John Zito vs. Delaware...hit all eight field goal attempts and posted 16 points, five assists and four blocked shots ...led the conference in field goal percentage for nearly six weeks...averaged 9.6 ppg at home and 6.3 ppg on the road in the regular season...posted six steals at San Diego State, the most by any current Retriever in a single game...pitched his second perfect game of the year with a 7/7 field goal effort (14 pts.) at Navy...followed up with a career high 24-point (11/14 fg), 10-rebound effort in win over Boston University, his second career double-double...hit the game-winning bucket with 0.7 seconds remaining in overtime...the 11 field goals tied a UMBC single game high for the season...tied career/season high with ten rebounds at Vermont and at Albany... UMBC was 7-1 when “House” scored in double figures, 3-18 when he did not...averaged 5.9 rpg in league games, the the seventh-best figure in the conference...had not posted double figures in five straight, his longest drought of the season, until a 10-point effort at Maine...it was UMBC’s first loss of the year when he scored in double figures...had a solid post-season, hitting eight of 11 from the floor and averaging 9.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg in two games.
2003-04: Appeared in both Battle of Baltimore games, posting 2 points and 4 rebounds in 8 minutes vs. Loyola...played extensively at Miami, logging 20 minutes for a foul-plagued Andrew Feeley...DNP for the only time this season at Santa Clara...garnered a season high 10 rebounds and scored a key late put-back in 60-56 win at UNH...tallied 8 points at Vermont and 9 points (in season best 33 minutes) vs. Stony Brook...suffered from stomach flu in Boston, but came off the bench to score a season high 11 points (4/4 fg) in 10 minutes of action at Northeastern...averaged 13.8 minutes per game in league games and hit 26 of 48 field goal attempts (54.2%) against America East competition...displayed outstanding instincts for the game.
Background: Earned First Team All Liberty District honors as a senior after earning Second Team honors as a junior…averaged 15.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game for the district champion Saxons last season…named to the Liberty District All Tournament team and was selected to the Virginia High School Association 2003 East/West All Star team…was the Saxons' Most Valuable Player for the past two years…earned All Tournament Team honors at the 2002 and 2003 South Invitational at the University of Virginia…scored 20 points and added 10 rebounds against three-time defending tourney champion Boo Williams…uses his court saavy to the maximum and has patterned his game after NBA superstar Tim Duncan…considered other schools early on, but "when I visited UMBC I loved it and thought of no other place to go"…considering a major in Information Systems…his mother, Suzanne, was an intercollegiate swimmer at Richmond, and his grandfather, Russ, played lacrosse at Colgate…enjoys the music of Linkin Park and the legendary television show, Seinfeld…Michael James Housman is the son of Suzanne and Jim Housman…born December 19, 1984.
