Dino Presley was added to the Retriever staff this past spring.
Presley spent the last two years as an assistant coach at East Carolina University, where he focused on recruiting, scouting, player development, and the academic progress of the student-athletes. At ECU, Presley was reunited with Head Coach Bill Herrion, after previously serving as assistant coach with Coach Herrion at Drexel University (1997-2001). During the 1998-99 season, Presley helped direct the Dragons to their sixth 20-win season in seven years.
Presley joined the East Carolina staff during the summer of 2003 after serving the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Towson University (2001-2003). Presley served as the summer basketball camp director at both Towson and Drexel.
“I feel blessed and very fortunate to have someone of Dino Presley’s caliber as our newest member of the coaching staff at UMBC,” said Coach Monroe. “He has a wealth of experience, he is very conscientious about his work, and truly cares about the well-being of the student-athlete. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that Dino will do an outstanding job for us in all facets of the men’s basketball program.”
A Philadelphia native, Presley has been coaching at the collegiate and high school level for the past 12 years. He earned his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Kutztown University in 1993, where he played two seasons for the Bears of Coach Bill Whitney. Prior to transferring to Kutztown, he was a two-year member of the basketball team at Atlantic (N.J.) Community College. Presley broke into the collegiate coaching ranks in 1994 as an assistant at Hampton University, where he spent one season before returning home to be an assistant at Philadelphia’s Parkway High School (1995-97).
Presley and wife Tonya have a four-year old daughter, Morgan.
