WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES FOURTH AT NEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Essex, MD-- The UMBC women's golf team captured fourth place today at the NEC Championship at Rocky Point Golf Club in Essex, MD. The Retrievers had their best showing ever for this particular tournament, firing a two-day total 673, besting the previous conference championship mark by seven strokes. Unfortunately for UMBC, three other teams also shot under the previous record, led by champion St. Francis (PA), who registered a 636 to beat the old mark by 44 strokes.Individually for the Retrievers, senior Jenelle D'Alessandro shot the lowest score of 80-81-161 to finish alone in 6th place. Junior Nicole Farina followed her opening round 81 with an 84 to finish at 165, in 13th place. Freshman Jennifer Rhee (89-81-170) was not far behind in 15th place and senior Amy Murphy (91-90-181) and freshman Teresa Hall (87-94-181) finished in a tie for 26th place.As a team, the Retrievers shattered their previous best at an NEC championship of 710 by 37 strokes.
