FIELD HOCKEY BLANKED BY MONMOUTH

Monmouth improved to 4-2 in the NEC and 5-4 overall with a 4-0 win over UMBC (1-6, 1-4) in West Long Branch, NJ on Sunday. MU scored 6:39 into the contest as Tara Hartman scored an unassisted goal. Then Kristin Hulmes scored 20 minutes later, and added two second half goals for the Hawks. MU outshot UMBC, 19-6. Retriever netminder Karalyn Krieger made 10 saves in the game. The Retrievers return home on Wednesday night to face St. Francis (PA).
