UMBC FIELD HOCKEY LOSES TO SIENA, 2-1

Loudonville, NY - UMBC recorded a season high 14 shots and registered a goal for the second consecutive game, but still lost to Siena, 2-1. Senior attacker Melissa Bragg scored the Retrievers' lone goal with 20:28 remaining in the second half, allowing UMBC to tie the game at 1-1. However, Siena would recapture the lead less than three minutes later after sophomore forward Ashley Smaldon found the back of the net. It was Smaldon's second goal of the day.UMBC goalkeeper Karalyn Krieger made 12 saves for the Retrievers, while Siena's Kristen Heyde made 8. The Saints outshot UMBC 17-14 and recorded more penalty corners, 5-2.
