ISON LEADS FIELD HOCKEY TO 3-1 WIN OVER ST. FRANCIS (PA)

Baltimore, MD—Senior Wendy Ison (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) scored three points, including the game-winning goal at 28:31 to lift UMBC (5-7, 4-4 NEC) over Northeast Conference foe, St. Francis (PA) (0-14, 0-8 NEC), 3-1.

The Red Flash got the early lead when senior captain Brandy Feldman (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) broke away for an unassisted goal at 10:17. However, UMBC would battle back as freshman Katie Cutchall (Hustontown, PA/Forbes Road) netted one in the 25th minute, and Ison converted a Leslie Chilcote (Hustontown, PA/Forbes Road) pass into another goal four minutes later.

Ison would get earn another point in the second half after feeding teammate Cecile Banas (Gaithersburg, MD/Wooton) a centering pass off a penalty corner for an insurance goal at 36:38.

For the game, UMBC outshot the Red Flash, 20-5, and recorded more penalty corners, 16-3.
