UMBC FIELD HOCKEY DROPS FOURTH STRAIGHT WITH 3-0 LOSS TO QUINNIPIAC

Hamden, CT- Freshman Danielle Avenoso tallied two goals for the second consecutive day, while senior co-captain Courtney Ryan handed out three assists to lead Quinnipiac (2-4) to a 3-0 win over UMBC (1-4).Avenoso opened the scoring in the closing minutes of the first half, knocking in a rebound for the one-goal lead. She then doubled the Quinnipiac advantage just 45 seconds after the intermission, firing home a beautiful feed from Ryan. Kristen McCarthy scored her second goal in as many days later in the half to seal the victory. UMBC returns to action on Wednesday, September 18, when they travel to St. Francis (PA).
