Durham, N.H.-The UMBC field hockey team (3-13, 0-5 AE) ended its season with a 7-0 loss to America East foe New Hampshire (7-12, 2-3 AE) Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.

Kelly White scored four goals and added an assist for the Wildcats, as New Hampshire controlled play from the opening whistle and generated a 20-4 shot advantage, as well as a 7-2 edge in penalty corners, in the first half to build a 5-0 halftime lead. UNH finished the game with a 28-8 shot advantage and a 10-5 edge in corners.

The four goals and nine points matched single-game highs for White, who scored goals in the 16th and 25th minutes to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead and struck again at 32:08 to extend the advantage to five goals. She completed the scoring with five minutes left in the game.

Retriever sophomore goalie Ashley Benitez (Sykesville, Md./Century) was credited with seven saves and allowed five goals. Junior Kathryn Tag (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace/U.S. Merchant Marine Academy) entered the game at the start of the second half and stopped four of six shots on goal the rest of the way.

Shauna Sellenger put New Hampshire ahead 1-0 at 11:13 when she redirected a pass from Kaitlyn Skelley into the cage. Michelle Tavener set up the next goal as she drove along the right end line and centered the ball to White, whose shot from the middle of the circle went inside the left post. On the next goal, White's initial shot was stopped by Benitez but Jen Mooney tipped the rebound to White, who shot the ball into an open cage.

A perfectly executed penalty corner put the Wildcats in front 4-0 at 28:44. White initiated the sequence with a hit to Kara Napolitano at the top of the circle. MacKenzie Stuart blasted a shot six inches off the ground into the cage. On UNH's next penalty corner, Stuart's low hit to the left post was redirected into the cage by White.

Liz Edwards scored her first goal of the season at 50:34 when Samantha Geary poked the ball behind the defense to the right post and Edwards dove to redirect the ball across the goal line. White, with the assistance of Emily Colton, extended the advantage to 7-0 at 65:00.

The Retrievers had two quality chances to score. On an untimed penalty corner at the end of the first half, junior attack Kristi Troster’s (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) shot from the top of the circle was denied by New Hampshire goalie Margaux Shute's stacked leg pads. With nine minutes remaining in the second half, sophomore attack Rebekah Krolus’ (Westminster, Md./Westminster) redirection from close range caromed off the crossbar. Senior defender Tiffany Deinzer (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito) recorded two defensive saves for UMBC, adding to her nation-leading total.
