Then, just 1:58 into the second half, Maine’s Kim MacDonald got a breakaway and scored the Black Bears’ second goal of the game. The score remained the same for nearly 20 minutes before MacDonald fed Kirsten Costa to give Maine its eventual final 3-0 win.

Benitez recorded 10 saves in 65:12 of play before giving way to junior Kathryn Tag (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace/U.S. Merchant Marines Academy), who stopped one shot. Maine goalie Rebecca Giroux tallied two saves in 70 minutes.

Seniors Tiffany Deinzer (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito) and Amanda Heinz (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) each registered a defensive save.
