RETRIEVER FIELD HOCKEY DROPS NON-CONFERENCE CONTEST, 2-0, TO CORNELL

The Big Red came out of the gates scoring, as Alyssa DePaola gave Cornell a 1-0 lead just 1:31 into the game. The Retrievers had a chance to tie it up with 21 minutes left in the first half when senior attack Katie Cutchall (
Cornell took a 1-0 lead into halftime before getting an insurance goal as Lizzie Auer converted a pass from Natalie Serle.
Sophomore goalie Ashley Benitez (Sykesville, Md./Century) kept the Retrievers in the game with eight saves, while Goldblatt recorded one.
The Big Red out-shot UMBC, 14-3, and held a 6-0 advantage on penalty corners.
