Sam Lawless scored for Robert Morris on a penalty corner from Sarah Schrott at 28:46, but Hartman again responded just over a minute later, notching her third goal of the day at 29:59, off a penalty corner from senior midfielder Amanda Heinz (
Hartman opened the second period with her fourth and final goal of the afternoon and sixth of her career at the 37:33 mark, the first of four consecutive Retriever goals. Guldner followed less than two minutes later at 39:14 on an assist from Cutchall.
Cutchall notched her fourth and final assist of the afternoon at 44:58 on a penalty corner, inserting to junior midfielder Julie Moore (Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun). Sophomore attack Jessica Smith (Boonton, N.J./Morris Hills) finished the scoring for the Retrievers at 59:39 with the first goal of her career.
Sophomore goalie Ashley Benitez (Sykesville, Md./Century) recorded four saves and allowed all three Colonial goals in 55:35 of play before junior Kathryn Tag (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace/U.S.
Hartman set a new UMBC record with four goals and eight points in a game. The previous record of three goals was held by five different Retrievers, most recently Ashly Meehan against Robert Morris last season. Meehan also held the previous record with six points in a single contest.
The Retrievers out-shot the Colonials, 22-13, and held a 9-6 advantage on penalty corners.
