Ashley Benitez had a career-high 13 saves against Drexel on Saturday.

Philadelphia, Pa.-Drexel's Rachael Bloemker scored a pair of goals to lead the Dragons (5-2) past UMBC’s field hockey team (0-6), 3-0, Saturday afternoon.

Drexel out-shot the Retrievers, 25-8, but sophomore goalie Ashley Benitez (Sykesville, Md./Century) kept UMBC in the game with a career-high 13 saves.

The Dragons got on the board early when Bloemker scored on a penalty corner less than three minutes into the game. Just over a minute later, the Dragons found the back of the net again when Amanda Mouser picked up a rebound and beat Benitez to increase Drexel's lead. The score remained 2-0 well into the second half until Bloemker scored again at 50:53. The goal was again the result of a penalty corner.

Drexel goalkeepers Colleen McAndrew and Krystle Nagle teamed up to keep the Retrievers off the scoreboard.

The Retrievers return to action Wednesday, Sept. 21, when they travel to Loretto, Pa., to take on former Northeast Conference foe St. Francis.
