ALBANY EDGES UMBC FIELD HOCKEY, 3-2

Baltimore, Md.The Retriever field hockey team dropped their fourth straight game as they lost to Albany (5-5, 1-0 AEC) in an America East contest by a score of 3-2 this afternoon at the UMBC Stadium. With the loss, UMBC fell to 3-7 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.

 

The Retrievers took an early 2-0 lead in the game after sophomore Kristi Troster (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) scored her third goal of the year on a rebound at 16:09. Just over two minutes later, Troster’s pass during a UMBC penalty corner was tipped in by senior Cecile Banas (Gaithersburg, Md./Wooton) for the Retriever’s second goal. Albany would counter with their first goal at the 22:43 mark when Kristi Clausi found Alexis Johnson inside to cut the UMBC lead to 2-1 at the half.
