KATHLEEN JACKSON TO REPRESENT UMBC AT 2004 NCAA LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Baltimore, Md.Junior Kathleen Jackson (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) of the Retriever Field Hockey team has been chosen to represent UMBC at the 2004 NCAA Leadership Conference.

 

This year, the selection committee received 1175 nominations from 295 institutions, and Jackson will be one of 324 student-athletes attending the conference from May 30 to June 3 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex and Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

 

Jackson, who red-shirted for the 2003 season due to a medical injury, has seen action in 20 games as a Retriever, and was a starter in nine games during her sophomore year. While at Wilde Lake, she was a Baltimore Sun and Columbia Flier Second-Team All-County selection as she led Howard County in scoring from 1998-2000.

 

Other Retrievers who had the honor of being recommended for the position include Tyecia Powell (Women’s Basketball), Andre Felton (Track & Field), and Andy Marchica (Men’s Soccer).
