FIELD HOCKEY DOWNED BY QUINNIPIAC, 3-0

Hamden, CT-The UMBC field hockey team dropped its second consecutive game on their Connecticut road trip, this time falling to Quinnipiac, 3-0. The Retrievers fall to 2-8 on the season and 2-6 in the NEC.Quinnipiac senior Heather Cady netted two goals for the home team, giving her five tallies in the past two games. Her goals helped her team to their eighth consecutive victory, which is the longest streak in QU history.One bright spot for the Retrievers was the play of junior goalkeeper Karalyn Krieger, who made 21 saves while facing a barrage of 33 shots. UMBC could muster only seven shots of their own and also lost the penalty corner battle, 13-2.Scoring-UMBC- none.Quinnipiac- Chelsea Osbrey (Sarah Riley), 12:40 (1); Cady (Courtney Ryan), 29:06 (2); Cady 2, 14:13 (2).Saves-UMBC- Krieger (70 min., 21 saves, 3 goals allowed) Quinnipiac- Sarah Mathers (70 min., 4 saves, 0 goals allowed).
