BOSTON UNIVERSITY DEFEATS FIELD HOCKEY IN FINALE, 9-2

    Baltimore, MD—Senior midfielder Celeste Hubbard scored four goals as Boston University (9-10, 3-3) defeated UMBC (2-14, 0-6) in an America East contest and the regular season finale for both teams.

     

    Hubbard and junior forward Kara Rossi scored two goals each in the first 13:30 of play as the Terriers moved out to a 4-0 advantage. Senior forward Dalinda Banuelos and senior midfielder Lindsey Domers added goals to increase the advantage to 6-0, before UMBC’s Leslie Chilcote scored on a penalty stroke as the first half came to an end.

     

    Hubbard and Domers tallied again in the first 14:25 of the second half, before UMBC cut the gap to 8-2 on a backhand goal by Katie Cutchall at the 17:46 mark of the stanza. But Hubbard scored her fourth goal on a penalty stroke with 5:59 remaining to complete the scoring.

     

    Hubbard and Domers also added assists to their point totals, and Banuelos had a pair of assists. BU outshot UMBC, 28-4, and had 17 penalty corners to just 3 for the hosts. UMBC netminder Meghan Polek made 13 saves in the contest.
