FIELD HOCKEY DROPS FIRST OF TWO IN CONNECTICUT

Sacred Heart scored late in the first half and added an insurance goal midway through the second to avenge an earlier loss and defeat UMBC, 2-0, in field hockey in Fairfield, CT. The Retrievers fall to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the NEC. SHU outshot UMBC, 14-5, although the Retrievers had 12 penalty corner attempts. UMBC netminder Karalyn Krieger made 9 saves in a losing effort.
