FIELD HOCKEY DROPS TENTH STRAIGHT, FALLS TO ALBANY IN OVERTIME, 6-5

Albany, N.Y. - Junior forward Alexis Johnson scored the game-winning goal with time expired in the first overtime period to give Albany its first America East Conference victory this season against UMBC, 6-5, on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Albany Field.
Johnson converted the game-winner off a direct pass from junior Danielle Costello on a penalty corner as the Great Danes had three straight penalty corners with time expired. Freshman forward Kristina Maze (Glens Falls) sent the game into overtime with her seventh goal of the season with 5:18 remaining in the second period in a contest that featured three ties
and two lead changes. The Great Danes (6-9, AE 1-2) had multiple scorers with Johnson scoring
three times, Maze tallying two goals and three assists, and sophomore Tina Bryson adding a goal and assist. Senior Lisa Burline recorded her tenth career assist in her last home game at Albany Field.
The Retrievers (1-10, AE 0-3) were led by freshman forward Catelyn Smith, who scored two goals, while junior midfielder Leslie Chilcote tallied a goal and assist. Forwards Jennifer Rowe and Julie Moore each added a goal for UMBC.
Freshman goalkeeper Marisa Maze (Glens Falls) made seven stops before being replaced by Barbara Czaplinski, who collected 11 saves for her first collegiate victory. Junior goalie Meghan Polek recorded 16 saves for the Retrievers.
