UMBC FIELD HOCKEY SHUTS OUT ST. FRANCIS, 6-0

Baltimore, MD - After posting their first win over Sacred Heart last weekend, UMBC continued to play well at home, as four different Retrievers scored in a 6-0 victory over St. Francis (PA). The Retrievers dominated the game early when senior captain Julie Pettit converted a pass from Caitlin Galligan less than six minutes into the first half. Pettit would score again before returning the favor and setting up Galligan for a goal of her own with a minute left before halftime. UMBC continued to increase their lead in the second half when Megan Atkinson received a pass from Kathleen Jackson and blasted it past Red Flash goalkeeper Erin Hobbs. Retriever forward Kristin Ramsay, who scored the winning goal against Sacred Heart, added to the Retriever total when she broke away and found the back of the net with seven minutes left in the game.For the game, the Retrievers outshot the Red Flash 15-5.
