Background: A Washington Post All-Met second team defense selection in 2004 and honorable mention in 2005…a Washington Post All-Extra Southern Region Player of the Year and first team defender in 2004 and first team midfielder in 2005…was a first team all-conference midfielder, first team all-county midfielder and all-state honorable mention midfielder as a senior…won the Patuxent High School Golden Stick award for her stick skills as a senior…named conference player of the year and earned all-county first team defense and all-state honorable mention defense honors as a junior…was the MVP of her high school team as a junior…scored the winning stroke after two scoreless overtime periods to win Patuxent’s first-ever regional championship in 2005…also helped lead the Panthers to their first-ever Southern Maryland Athletic Conference championship and the state finals for the first time…also lettered in basketball and lacrosse…was an all-conference and all-county first team defender in lacrosse and an all-county guard in basketball…a member of the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society…received the Academic Excellence award, and was a nine-time Minds in Motion award recipient…named Most Athletic Female of her senior class…born Nov. 23, 1988…daughter of Tim and Michelle Klares…has an older brother, Zachary…a visual arts major who hopes to become a graphic designer.
