On Benitez: Has consistent skills and great technique…extremely intense player who has worked very hard and is ready to step up…competing for starting goalie job.

 

2004: Saw action in 54 minutes over five games for the Retrievers…played 7:52 against Robert Morris for her first collegiate game action…recorded her only save of the season against Northeastern…saw her most significant playing time against Lehigh, when she guarded the goal for 23:25, allowing only one score against her.

 

Background: Was a 2002 Junior Olympic Athlete and a member of the 2003 U-19 U.S. Field Hockey Elite Team that traveled to Australia…as a senior, she was named  Second-Team Carroll County by the Carroll County Times, Second-Team Piedmont Conference, Second-Team All-Metro and First-Team All-County by The Baltimore Sun, and Second Team All-State…also lettered in lacrosse in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society and Art Club…daughter of Ed and Cheryl Benitez…has two brothers, Brandon and Kyle, and a sister, Kristen…born on Jan. 4, 1986…majoring in English and hopes to become an English teacher.
