Julie Pettit returns for her third year as an assistant coach.

“I am so excited to have Coach Pettit return this fall,” said Head Coach Kristy Hartman-Mumma. “Coach Pettit's focus has really been on organizing all our recruitment efforts.  From the strength of our incoming freshman class, you can see she has done a stellar job.  Her ability to communicate with the recruits and relay her experiences here both as a student-athlete and a coach gives everyone a great amount of insight about our program.”

Previously, Pettit coached in the National Futures program at both the Johns Hopkins and College Park sites, in addition to the Futures U-16 Regional tournament, where her team came in first in their bracket, taking the gold. Last summer, Pettit worked at the Trenton College of New Jersey camp which hosted a large pool of coaches from all over the world.

A former member of the Retriever team at both the Club and Division I levels, Pettit helps the coaching staff to see the program from a different perspective. In 2000, Pettit anchored the UMBC defense as their sweeper, and in the following year, was moved to offense, where she set a new record for the most points in a season.

Pettit, a 2002 graduate of UMBC, plans to attend graduate school to obtain her Masters Degree in Creative Writing/Literature.
