Background: Was a 2002 Junior Olympic Athlete and was a member of the 2003 U-19 U.S. Field Hockey Elite Team that traveled to Australia… As a senior, she was named Second Team Carroll County by the Carroll County Times, Second Team Piedmont Conference, Second Team All-Metro and First Team All-County by The Baltimore Sun, and Second Team All-State… In high school, she was also a member of the county-champion South Carroll lacrosse team, the National Honor Society, and was consistently on the Honor Roll… Chose UMBC because “it was the best fit, academically”… Daughter of Ed and Cheryl Benitez… Born on January 4, 1986… Intends to major in English and hopes to become an English teacher.
