    UMBC baseball raced out to an early lead, but the home standing Seawolves fought back to take down UMBC 11-6 on Sunday. Freshman Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) led the Retrievers with four hits. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) drove in three runs on three hits for UMBC.

Sophomore Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) drove in three runs, including the go-ahead run in the sixth.

    UMBC baseball freshman Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. Goodwin helped the Retrievers to a 2-2 week, improving the team record to 7-15, 4-2 AE and into a tie for first in the conference.

    UMBC baseball will host the Hawks in midweek action on Tuesday. UMBC vs. Delaware, originally scheduled for Wednesday will be moved to next Wednesday, April 11 in Newark. The Retrievers are coming off a 2-1 America East series win against Binghamton this past weekend. UMBC took game one 8-6 in comeback fashion before splitting the double header on Saturday with a 6-1 win and 5-3 loss. The Retrievers are 7-15, 4-2 AE on the year.

    UMBC baseball at Mount St. Mary's today, and at Coppin State tomorrow have both been cancelled due to winter weather in the Baltimore/Maryland area. The game vs. Mount St. Mary's will not be rescheduled. The Retrievers and Eagles will make up their game on May 9th at Alumni Field. Coppin State will be the home team in the contest. Game time TBD.
