BALTIMORE—The UMBC baseball team dropped a pair of games to America East foe Albany, 13-0 and 10-8, Sunday afternoon at the Baseball Factory Field.

In the first game, Albany’s Zach Kraham pitched a four-hit shutout as the Great Danes took the win, 13-0.

Brenden Rowland had two hits and three RBI to lead the Great Danes.

Junior Austin Drewyer (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) (0-3) took the loss for the Retrievers.

In the second game, sophomore Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) had three hits, including two home runs, and drove in three runs.

Down 9-5 in the bottom of the eighth, Himmelstein hit a leadoff double, moved to third on a junior Bryan Russo (Westbury, N.Y./Clarke) single and scored on a sophomore Curtis Schickner (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) RBI double.

Russo scored on a RBI groundout by junior Casey Medairy (Elkridge, Md./Howard) and Schickner came around to score on a throwing error to cut the lead to one.

Sophomore Sean Swetnam (Greenbelt, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt/George Mason) took the loss, falling to 3-3 on the year, while Albany’s Greg Lutton earned his second win of the season. Kevin Bartlett pitched the final four outs for his second save.

The Retrievers return to action Tuesday when they play host to Georgetown at 6 p.m.
