STONY BROOK, N.Y.—The UMBC baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Stony Brook Saturday afternoon, 5-0 and 6-0, in Stony Brook, N.Y.

The Retrievers (7-20, 3-3 America East) managed just seven hits on the day with sophomores Brian Klukowicz (Clifton, N.J./St. Peter's Prep), Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Curtis Schickner (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) each getting a hit in both games.

UMBC’s first game starter, senior Andrew Germuth (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding/Mount St. Mary's) (1-3), allowed five runs (four earned) and struck out seven. Stony Brook (13-16, 3-2 America East) starter Nick Trapano (3-3) scattered four hits, while striking out nine in a complete-game shutout.

The Seawolves’ Pat Cantwell had two runs batted in to lead SBU in the first game.

In the second game, senior starter Kevin Clark (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield/Catonsville C.C.) (0-3) allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings of work, but Tyler Johnson (5-2) of Stony Brook pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 to clinch the night-cap.

Both Robert Dyer and Michael Stephan had two RBIs to lead Stony Brook.

The two teams finish the three-game series Sunday at 12:00.
