Sophomore Brian Klukowicz

TOWSON, Md.—Sophomores Curtis Schickner (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) and Brian Klukowicz (Clifton, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) and freshman Aaron Brill (Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) each had three hits, but the UMBC baseball team fell to Towson, 17-6, Tuesday afternoon in Towson, Md.

Schickner and junior Rich Conlon (Vienna, Va./James Madison) led off the first with singles before sophomore Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) doubled down the right field line to give the Retrievers (3-9) a 2-0 lead.

Towson (4-16) answered with two in the bottom of the first and added four in the third as Austin Harclerode led the Tigers with four hits and five RBI.

UMBC Junior Casey Medairy (Elkridge, Md./Howard) earned three RBI, including a two-run double in the sixth.

Junior Austin Drewyer (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) (0-1) struck out five in five innings of work, allowing seven runs. Towson’s Mike Bronakoski (2-1) earned the win allowing one unearned run in three innings of relief.

The Retrievers return to action Wednesday when they travel to College Park, Md. to face Maryland at 4 p.m.
