Retriever Baseball Loses to Navy, 10-1, Tuesday Night
BALTIMORE--The Navy Midshipmen scored seven runs in the first inning as the UMBC baseball team fell Tuesday night, 10-1. With the loss the Retrievers fall to 4-19, while Navy improves to 12-17-1.
The Retrievers' only run came in the third inning as sophomore Rich Conlon (Vienna, Va./James Madison) singled to lead off the inning and later scored on a senior Wink Nolan (Ellicott City, Md./Calvert Hall/Maryland) grounder to short.
Starter freshman Michael Pesci (Parsippany, N.J./DePaul Catholic) took the loss in his first career start, while JD Melton earned the win after only allowing one run in 2 and 2/3 innings pitched. Freshman Luke DiBlasi (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) made his first collegiate appearance, pitching two scoreless innings, while fellow freshman Brian Klukowicz (Clifton, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) allowed just one hit in two innings of work.
