Senior Tom Meaney now leads the Retrievers with 20 RBI.

—The UMBC baseball dropped two games to Fairfield, 7-2 and 6-4 in eight innings, Saturday afternoon. With the losses, the Retrievers drop to 4-12 on the season, while the Stags improve to 9-9.

In the second game, senior Wink Nolan (Ellicott City, Md./Calvert Hall/Maryland) gave the Retrievers a 2-1 lead in the third inning with a two-run triple down the right field line. UMBC would extend the lead to three on a senior Tom Meaney (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem) RBI single and a freshman Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) RBI groundout.

Meaney provided the Retrievers the only spark in the first game as well, hitting a two-run home run to center, his fourth of the year. With the RBI single in the second game, the senior has taken the team lead with 20 RBI.

Junior Ed Bach (Columbia, Md./Atholton) (0-5) took the loss in the first game despite not giving up an earned run in six innings pitched with four strikeouts. Junior Kevin Clark (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield/Catonsville C.C.) started the second game, allowing two runs in 4 and a 1/3 innings pitched. Senior Ryan Morse (Frederick, Md./Catoctin/Chesapeake JC) (0-2) took the loss in the second game, allowing two runs in 2 and 2/3 innings pitched.
