DELAWARE BASEBALL HANDS UMBC, 14-1, DEFEAT AT ALUMNI FIELD

    Baltimore, MD - - - Delaware starting righty Ryan Dulaney (4-0) limited UMBC to just three hits and one run in 8.0 innings of work to lead the visiting Blue Hens (33-17) to a 14-1 victory over the Retrievers (28-19), Tuesday afternoon at UMBC Alumni Field. Dulaney was working on a one-hit shutout until Retrievers' senior center fielder John Shuler hit a run scoring double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.Delaware staked Dulaney to a 7-0 lead after just three innings as the Blue Hens scored three runs in the top of the second and added four more in the third. First baseman Steve Harden (3-for-5) and left fielder Casey Fahy each produced RBI doubles in the second and designated hitter Steve Eiteleman added a two-run double in the third.Blue Hens' right fielder Steve Van Note added his 9th homer of the season, a two-run shot in the top of the sixth inning, which gave the visitors a 10-0 lead.Van Note, Harden, and Eiteleman each drove in three runs on the day for Delaware.UMBC starter Matt Farina (2-3) was handed the loss after allowing seven earned runs in just 3.0 innings of work.
