Conlon was just one of four Retrievers to record an extra-base hit in UMBC’s two games during the tournament and batted .286 with two hits, a double, and two RBI. The rookie led the Retrievers in their opening game against Stony Brook on Thursday, batting in two runs with a two-out single to right center in the top of the seventh, which cut the Seawolves lead to just one run. Conlon also tallied a double in the ninth and became the potential winning run for the Retrievers, but the Seawolves got out of the inning unscathed and added one run of their own in the bottom of the ninth for the 4-3 decision. Stony Brook’s Steve Mazzurco was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after hitting .455 for the weekend with two doubles in three games.
