BASEBALL SWEEPS QUINNIPIAC, 6-3 & 10-0

Baltimore, MD - - -The host UMBC Retrievers (25-15, 16-4 NEC) sweptvisiting Quinnipiac (8-25, 6-14 NEC) by scores of 6-3 and 10-0, inNortheast Conference action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.In the opener, SO lefty Joe Wilson improved to 7-2 on the season andjunior third baseman Brad Glascock went 2-for-3 (4th home run) and drovein three runs.The Retrievers scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning onfour hits and a Braves’ error. Glascock and junior catcher ScottKosmicky each had RBI’s in the frame. UMBC added an unearned run in thesecond inning to grab a 4-0 lead.Trailing 6-2, the Braves threatened in the sixth inning, loading thebases with just one man out against Wilson. However freshman relieverKyle Wildasin came in and allowed just one run to score. Wildasinfanned four batters in 1.2 innings to pick up his third save of theseason. Wilson allowed three earned runs and fanned seven in 5.1innings.In the nightcap, freshman righty Zach Clark pitched a complete-gameone-hitter to improve to 6-2 on the season. Clark did not allow a hituntil Braves’ second baseman Charles D’Elia hit a clean single with oneout in the seventh inning.Sophomore second baseman Dan Carpenter contributed a three-run doubleand Kosmicky (2 RBI’s) added his fifth homer of the season in the secondinning.
