The Northeast Conference named UMBC freshman pitcher Zach Clark Rookie of the Week. Clark has found his groove over the last two weeks and developed into one of the top freshman hurlers in the conference. Last week, he secured two NEC victories to improve his record to 3-2. Clark compiled a 1.64 ERA over 11 innings, yielding nine hits while fanning six. In UMBC's 11-2 win over Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday, he turned in his second straight complete game victory, permitting just two unearned runs on four hits in seven innings, while whiffing five. Four days later, he scattered five hits and allowed two runs in four innings of relief to earn the win in the Retrievers' 9-5 victory over Long Island. Clark, who is tied for the team lead with 25 strikeouts, has given up just three earned runs in his last 20 innings (four outings) and has lowered his ERA from 6.61 to 3.68 during the span.
