BASEBALL SPLITS WITH MOUNT ST. MARY'S

UMBC (12-11, 5-3 NEC) split a doubleheader at Mount St. Mary's (8-19, 4-4 NEC) this afternoon in Emmitsburg, MD. The Retrievers dropped the opener 4-3, but came back to win the nightcap 11-2.In the opener, Mount DH Jim Jefferson came through with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 deadllock.SO lefty Joe Wilson took the loss as he allowed four earned runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings to fall to 4-2. SO DH Chris Becraft and classmate Rick Guarno each had two hits for the Retrievers.In game two, FR righhander Zach Clark (2-2) picked up his second consecutive complete-game win, as he allowed no earned runs and only four hits in 7.0 innings of work. JR third baseman Brad Glascock went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBI's.JR catcher Scott Kosmicky and senior shortstop Jared Boyd (17th double) also drove in two runs each, while Guarno had a game-high three hits and scored three runs.
