Delawter Named All-Conference, All-Academic for 2007

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—Junior Will Delawter was named designated hitter on the America East All-Conference First-Team and part of the All-Academic squad, the conference announced last week.
Delawter led the Retrievers in batting average (.365), hits (62), RBI (38), slugging percentage (.553), and on-base percentage (.418). Delawter also ranked second on the team with 14 doubles, 94 total bases, and six home runs, as well as third with 26 runs scored.
In the America East Conference, Delawter ended the season ranked third in batting average, fifth in slugging percentage, sixth in on-base percentage, seventh in hits and RBI, as well as tied for eighth in doubles, tied for fifth in home runs, and tied for seventh in total bases.
Delawter transferred to UMBC in the 2006-2007 school year after spending two years at Cheasapeake JC where he was named an NJCAA All-American in 2005 and inducted into the Chesapeake College Hall of Fame in 2006 after helping to lead the Skipjacks to a fifth-place finish in the 2005 NJCAA College World Series.
