BASEBALL SWEEPS SACRED HEART BEHIND PITCHING OF WILSON & CLARK

    Freshman righthander Zach Clark pitched a complete-game to pick up his first career victory against Sacred Heart this afternoon at Alumni Field.

    Baltimore, MD - - -UMBC sophomore left-hander Joe Wilson and freshman righthander Zach Clark each earned complete-game victories as UMBC (10-9, 3-2 NEC) swept a Northeast Conference doubleheader from Sacred Heart (6-13, 1-4 NEC) this afternoon at UMBC Alumni Field by scores of 3-2 (8 innings) and 5-2.In the opener, UMBC junior third baseman Brad Glascock singled up the middle to score senior Greg Deboy with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Wilson allowed just 7 hits and one earned run to improve to 4-1 on the season. Senior center fielder John Shuler led the Retrievers with two hits. Senior Dave Rosso took the loss for the Pioneers, despite allowing just two earned runs in 7.0 innings of work.In the nightcap, UMBC scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning on four hits. Freshman Zach Clark (1-2) earned his first career victory as he allowed just three hits while striking out five. He also added 7 assists in the field. Glascock and senior shortstop Jared Boyd each had two hits. Sophomore Dan Scott suffered the loss for the Pioneers as he allowed four earned runs in 6.0 innings of work.
