JOE WILSON NAMED NEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

UMBC sophomore lefty Joe Wilson was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week this afternoon by the league office. Wilson won both of UMBC's contests this past week to improve to 3-1 onthe season. The left-hander yielded just two hits while blanking localrival Towson on Tuesday and then defeated St. Francis (NY) in the NECopener with an impressive 9.0 inning performance. Wilson carried ashutout into the ninth inning before the Terriers scored two runs in thefinal frame. Wilson has now allowed just two earned runs in 27.0innings for a 0.67 ERA. He has allowed just 18 hits and batters arehitting just .189 against him.
