Senior Steve Bowen Named America East Co-Player of the Week

BOSTON--UMBC baseball senior Steve Bowen has been named America East Conference Co-Player of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, April 1, the conference announced Monday.
Bowen is the third Retriever to pick up a weekly conference awards, after sophomore left-hander Ed Bach was named Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 11 and senior Mike Scheffel was named Player of the Week for the week ending March 18.
Bowen led the Retrievers in last weekend's series against the NJIT Highlanders, going 10-for-15 (.667) with seven runs scored, seven RBI, and two home runs in three games. He also recorded a slugging percentage of 1.067, while holding an on-base percentage of .688.
Bowen recorded home runs in the first two games of the series, while going 5-for-6 with four RBI, three runs scored, and a two-run homer on Friday night, and going 4-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a two-run homer on Saturday.
Bowen leads the team in batting average (.420), home runs (3), total bases (36), slugging percentage (.720), and on-base percentage (.474) on the season.
