3/19/2002
Baltimore, MD - Retriever pitchers Joe Wilson and Andy Glass combined for a two-hit shutout of Towson (7-5-1) at UMBC's Alumni Field today. UMBC (6-6) pounded out four runs on three hits in the first inning, including an RBI single to right field by sophomore Rick Guarno, who went 3-for-3 with two runs and a walk. The Retrievers would then take advantage of four Tiger errors, adding four more runs to cruise to their sixth victory on the year. Wilson gave up only two hits in six innings of work, while striking out two. Freshman reliever Andy Glass pitched the final three innings without giving up a hit to earn the save. Towson's Matt Nein, who left the game after being hit by a line drive in the first, faced only two batters, while giving up an earned run to take the loss. -------------------- R H ETOWSON 000 000 000 - 0 2 4UMBC 400 102 01 - 8 7 2WP- Wilson (2-1)LP- Nein (1-1)S- Glass (1)
