    FR righthander Eric Butkiewicz pithced 7.0 strong innings to improve to 2-0.

    The host UMBC Retrievers salvaged their three-game series with visiting Duquesne by defeating the Dukes, 14-3, Sunday afternoon at UMBC Alumni Field. The game was called after 6.5 innings due to rain. UMBC improved to 5-6 while the Dukes fell to 7-7.The Retrievers broke open a 3-1 lead by scoring 11 runs on 9 hits in the bottom of the 5th inning. UMBC sent 16 men to the plate in the frame. Junior designated hitter Scott Kosmicky had a pair of two-run singles and senior shortstop Jared Boyd added a three-run double in the inning.UMBC senior right fielder Greg Deboy went a perfect 4-for-4 and scored three runs. Kosmicky finished 3-for-4 with 4 RBI's while Boyd was 2-for-4 with three runs scored in addition to his 3 RBI's.Freshman righthander Eric Butkiewicz scattered 10 hits, struck out five and allowed three earned runs in 7.0 innings of work to improve to 2-0.
