Boston, Mass. - UMBC baseball freshman Eddie Bach (Columbia, Md./Athloton) earned Co-America East Conference Rookie of the Week honors this past week after throwing a no-hit complete game against Hartford.  The award is shared with Hartford’s Weston Szymanski (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) after he pitched against Bach in the game and recorded the win with a complete game shut out over the Retrievers.

Bach struck out four in 6.0 innings in the second game of the four-game series. Bach, however, took the loss in the game with one run scored on an error, two stolen bases and a wild pitch. Bach in the six innings faced 20 batters and allowed five runners on by virtue of walks and two UMBC errors. Other weekly award winners include Vermont’s Kyle Brault (Milton, Vt./Milton) as the America East Player of the Week and Maine’s Scott Robinson (Ajaz, Ontario/ Pickering) earning Pitcher of the Week honors.  The accolades were announced Monday (May 1).
