JON GOSSARD NAMED TO AMERICA EAST ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

Orono, Maine – UMBC Baseball freshman Jon Gossard (Harrington Park, N.J./Old Tappan) was selected to the America East Conference All-Rookie team on Wednesday afternoon. Gossard was on of two rookie catchers selected to the team. All voting was conducted by the conference’s head coaches.
Gossard finished his first season donning the black and gold with a .288 batting average, fourth best on the team. Gossard played in the most games on the season for the Retrievers starting 48 and playing in 50 of the team’s 52 possible games played. Gossard recorded 49 hits on the year, seven doubles, a triple and one homerun. He finished the year with 24 RBI and 14 runs scored.
Third Baseman Miquel Magrass of Vermont was tabbed conference Rookie of the Year. Joining Magrass and Gossard on the All-Rookie team were Binghamton’s Brendon Hitchcock (P), Matt Simek (2B) and Pat Haughie (C), Maine's Matt McGraw (DH), Joel Barrett (1B) and Steve Richard (P), and Stony Brook's Chris Sipp (2B). The all-rookie squad is chosen regardless of position.
