RETRIEVERS FALL 6-1 IN FINALE OF THREE-GAME SERIES WITH NORTHEASTERN

The UMBC Retrievers (10-29, 3-9 AE) lost 6-1 in the finale of a three-game America East Conference baseball series with Northeastern (19-15, 8-4 AE) on Sunday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.  Zach Clark with a 2-for-4 day with a run scored and Kyle Wildasin with a 1-for-4 day including a RBI led the Retrievers. 

 

Huskies’ starter Devin Monds went all nine innings for the complete game, allowing one run on six hits.  Monds, who struck out six, improves to 4-3 on the season. 

 

Retrievers’ starter Bo Sauter went the first 2.1 innings allowing three runs on five hits.  The Huskies scored one off Sauter in the first as Brad Czarnowski hit an RBI single and two in the third.

 

In the third Jon Pavlis, who relieved Sauter, threw a passed ball allowing one run to score and then an RBI single by Jeff Maher scored the third run of the game for the Huskies.

 

NU added three runs in the seventh inning to secure the win.

 

The Retrievers only scoring came in the ninth as a two-out single from Zach Clark coupled with Monds' wild pitch allowing Clark to move to second base and Wildasin recording an RBI single to drive Clark to the plate.  Wildasin now has a hit in every conference game on the year, a streak of 12 games.
