BETHESDA, Md. – The Georgetown (7-5) baseball team displayed dominant pitching and sparkling defense in addition to their consistent offense as the team rolled to their sixth-consecutive victory, and maintained their perfect record at Shirley Povich Field by defeating UMBC (0-8) by a score of 7-0 Wednesday afternoon in Bethesda, Md.

No UMBC batter reached beyond first base until the fifth inning, when Georgetown starting pitcher Trey Martin worked his way out of a minor jam to preserve the shutout. UMBC first baseman Kyle Wildasin singled to right field, the next batter, Tom Rinaldi, walked, and Mike Orlando sacrificed the runners to second and third. But after a short fly out and a strikeout, Martin ended the inning without damage, and no Retriever made it past second base for the duration of the contest.
